One of Hodsons' most influential roles for clients is the generation of printed or digital documents and web content for effective communication with specifiers, contractors and others in the industry at all stages in the procurement process.
Literature & Web
We produce material ranging from sales brochures and magazines to informative and educational documents, substantial technical manuals and comprehensive information resources that set industry standards. We can either take full responsibility for all aspects of producing literature and websites – including research, writing, design, development and print - or work with clients and their agencies, providing specific expert input.
Further examples can be found in Client Case Studies.
With many existing clients, our understanding of their business allows us to identify the need for specific communications. Our expertise and ability to learn quickly minimises the need for client involvement. Literature and web content is always created with the user in mind to give busy specifiers and contractors the right information at the right time. The nature, level of detail and content of communications is geared to suit each stage of the procurement process, including: product selection, specification, detailing, purchase, installation and maintenance – not forgetting education and continuing professional development (CPD). We take great care that vocabulary and terminology suits the particular audience to make sure we speak the same language as the reader. Our perspective of the wider construction process enables us to place products in context, directly related to the latest practices, regulations, standards and guidance.
With literature, we keep in mind the recommendations of the industry standard BS 4940:1994 and classification systems such as Uniclass and CI/SfB. However, we take a fresh approach to each project so that the clear presentation of technical information is balanced against sales messages and marketing strategy. We work closely with our web developers to maximize search engine optimization while structuring sites for clear navigation and demonstrably impressive performance.
